Whitney Ports husband did not approve of her party dress do you agree?

Get a load of Whitney Port! The recent newlywed (remember the mullet wedding dress?) took another fashion risk at Sunday night’s Weinstein Company and Netflix-sponsored after party at the Beverly Hilton, wearing a barely-there Michael Costello Fall 2016 bodysuit and net gown. I do think the term “gown” is a bit generous, as it looks like she’s wearing a full-length fishnet stocking. She posted a photo of the “dress” on Instagram with the caption, “Ok, so I know y’all are not used to seeing me like but I thought I’d try a little something different!! Always good to take some risks! Though the husband did not approve.”

I had to chuckle when I discovered she was wearing sunburst earrings from Jane Seymour’s Open Heart collection. All I could think about was Jamie Pressly’s character on My Name is Earl and her obsession with the jewelry line. Celebrities – at times they truly are just like us!

In my earlier post, many commenters wondered what socialite Olivia Palermo was doing at the ceremony. Maybe she was a celebrity seat filler? (I honestly don’t know why she was there either.) All I can say is that I absolutely adore the post-ceremony dress she modeled at the Weinstein after party. The cocktail length dress from Giambattista Valli Haute Couture is so pretty and sparkly and I love the cape effect on the back of the it. She completed the look with subtle jewelry from Verdura. Why she didn’t wear this dress to the ceremony is a mystery to me. It’s really cute, and don’t get me started on those shoes. They are gorgeous.

Jennifer Jason Leigh didn’t so much as make a quick change for the party, she just added a short sleeved fur coat to her light blue Roland Mouret gown (that apparently only I liked.) I am not a big fan of the coat, but I loved her in Hateful Eight, so she gets a pass for this one.

Mira Sorvino’s elegant black gown is everything. I absolutely adore it, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. She’s another actress who still looks fabulous – remember when she was the sweetheart of the 1996 Golden Globes after her Best Supporting Actress win for Mighty Aphrodite? Looks like it could have been last year. Way to class up the place, Romy.

Toni Braxton, no stranger to revealing award fashion (remember that white dress she wore for the 2001 Grammys?), showed up at the party bra-less in a white lace top that left little to the imagination. The accompanying high waisted white pants make her look short and I think the caption for this one should be, “If you can’t say something nice…” Well, the poor woman is battling Lupus and she really does look great. Just go for something a little more demure next time, hmm?

Toni wasn’t the only singer showing an expanse of skin. Over at the Warner Brothers and InStyle party was singer Charli XCX. I can only assume the invitation to this party listed the dress code as “as close to nude as possible.” Her crystal encrusted mini dress from Jamie Lee Major is giving me a major “opening number of ‘Goddess’ from Showgirls” vibe. I do like her gold Stuart Weitzman shoes, which cost more than my mortgage.
